My rats now live in a 16' x 8' shed in our garden.

I took the decision to move them out there due to the fact that they were starting to take over the upstairs of our house and that a number of people told me this would be better for them.

The shed doubles up as a mini office for me so I can do some work out there too.

Other Cages
I also have quite a few other cages which I use for nursing mums & kittens or for any rats that are staying for a holiday.

This is a Ferplast Mary Cage.

Again I use this for Intro's or new rats but this cage will also be used for pregnant does as their birthing home.

I have 2 of these cages

Savic Freddy 2
Once the kittens get to 3 weeks old (depending on litter size), I will transfer them in to this cage until they need to spilt at 4.5weeks.

This is a critter 3 cage
I have 2 of these which I use as the holiday cages if we are going away.

Bedding

Bedmax

Back 2 Nature

I am currently using Finacard mixed with Bedmax as my main cage substrate. I mix the two as I find the finacard gets quite smelly after 5 days and they bedmax is very absorbant and helps to reduce these smells. I also use Aubiose which is my back-up substrate and used in the show tanks.

In the litter trays I use Back to Nature which is a paper based small animal litter. BioCat is the back-up.

For inside the igloos and houses I use torn up newspaper, paper towels or Safebed which they can take wherever they like.
